High School Sports

I have a Question, when I was in High School at Lincoln County High, it did not matter who was the best player at any particular Sport, it was about whose parents had the most money, whose parents were on the school board and made the most noise. The coach caved and let them be on the starting team or play more to ensure their job.

So what ended up happening was the kids that were really good and needed sports scholarships, did not get play time and the kids that had parents who could afford college got to play more.

I ask, is it Still Like This ?
