I have no problem with you expressing your opinion but i would prefer you get your facts straight before posting half truths. Those people were not w/o water for 2 weeks and it wasn't like the town purposely broke the pipes these thing just happen. Is it fair to blame the town for a pipe breaking when obviously the weather was the a factor or some other water related problem? Like i said i don't mind your opinion just get the facts correct and don't blame someone who had no control, do you honestly think that it was easy digging into frozen ground and then searching for a water leak in the freezing cold in a hole surronded by water? I feel bad the people went without water but it was being tended to its not like they sat on there you know what and didn't fix it. The water was out for a total of 8 days. the first pipe that broke was 5 days out and the 2nd was 3 days. The cold weather played the biggest part in hindering the locating and repair of the leak. I understand it was a hardship but people like to blame someone and not something! thanks for letting me give my opinion

i miss typed when i wrote that the second time was also days approximately i am sorry. I didn't realize you just post what you hear i assumed you just posted what you thought happened. I don't know if you read the paper but the cause was believed to be previous work on that street done by another agency, not that they did anything wrong, it was just that when one utility was replaced and the road dug up it somehow compromised the older water pipes. Anyways that is all Happy New Year.
Yes, I do Post What I think, it is My Blog. I encourage others to Post as well. I know what the paper said, but I have been to meetings where the paper says a different version of what I saw with my eyes and heard with my ears. So I know that the Paper is in essence a Blog as well. It is the version of Reality that the person writes the article believes to have happened or the pressure of those with money or local political power that determines what really goes in the story. I realize it was VERY cold and that the break was hard to determine.
I am sure it was not a purposeful act to hurt anyone. Though, many did suffer .. it truly was a hardship. Some were sick and it was not pretty. Some were alone and had the fire department bring water. Some had family in town for Christmas that ended up hauling water.. it was a Mess and VERY sad for those involved. I personally do blame the Town of Eureka. Because I have seen them hire people that are NOT qualified to work on the lines because they are the cheapest bid, I have seen them NOT be able to shut water off while basements fill in business. I have seen great hardship with commercial buildings downtown due to the lack of the Right Money spent in the Right Places. I have seen kids with Cancer from Mold because water and sewages backed up into the house. This Incident may be something that the Town Of Eureka is Totally Innocent of, so Be It. However I believe that the problem would not have happened if the right people installed the lines in the first place.
I believe the Town of Eureka has let people suffer, has NOT done the right work in the right place. And I have personally seen the Town of Eureka “pick on” people, such as getting some out of bed to shovel their walks in front of their downtown commercial building while the other buildings around and across the street were loaded with snow and got NO call. So yes my opinion is mine, but I have owned downtown business, I have lived here my whole life, I have seen the damage done to people by the City Water and Sewer lines that are NEVER quite right, and I have seen those who suffer from it… something is wrong in the big picture and those people should not have been out of water so long and then when it WAS supposedly fixed, obviously it was done cheaply - short cutted or in the wrong place, because yes, it then happen again.. And from the stories I have heard the paper seriously downplayed.. I mean the Missoulian had an article about 2 people that were in quite a stressful situation.
No Offense to the Tobacco Valley News, I Get it.. If they don’t play things down, they lose advertisers and in a small town they cannot afford to tell the whole truth and nothing but.. People Just Get angry at the Truth.. And justice does not come to them anyway so they learn to Grin and Bear It.
So Yes "Previous Work" caused the problem, that is what I was saying.. Shabby work done by the lowest bidder or those politically connected and the Residents Pay the Price.. it is Wrong....
